specific object is part of an ongoing practice by paul lawrence – who after leaving central st. martins worked in fine art fabrication, textile design, print and design research. previous works have led to a deep interest in the minutae of the everyday and the overlooked, which combined with an experimental, process led approach to making serves as the starting point for works and projects.

socks are currently produced in northern italy using giza 86 extra long staple yarns, selected and grown in egypt and dyed in italy. all yarns are from sustainable sources and oeko-tex certified. heel and toe are nylon reinforced for durability. all socks are produced on 176 or 200 needle mono or double cylinder machines.

wool socks are made from mulesing free oeko-tex certified italian wool. mohair socks are made in england using mohair from a rather cheerful herd of angora goats kept in the south west. the wool is spun in the south west before being knitted on 168 needle machines and hand linked in the midlands before being dyed back in the south west or here in london.

belts are produced in london using 3mm english bridle shoulder, with the wax and tallow hand polished out.
